The history of Ranthambore is a heroic history and it is the best history in Indian history, especially the history of the Chauhan Rajput empire. Ranthambore had such a history that even the Delhi Sultanate had to chew iron grams to break it.
Except for Ranthambore Fort, most of the Rajputs of Rajasthan had made a treaty with the Delhi Sultanate, after that, they also made a treaty with the British, but Ranthambore was not as easy for the Delhi Sultanate as it was for the British.
Hi, I am Doctor Sheikh Nasir. I had never introduced myself in any article before this. I have always been going by the name of World Wide History. But this is the history of such a brave and great man whose name is Hammer Chauhan, in this context, it is necessary for me to introduce myself. If I do not introduce myself even for such a valiant and brave man, then it would be disrespectful to this brave man.
The history of Ranthambore revolved around Chauhans for a long time, but the most powerful and mighty king of Ranthambore was Hammer Chauhan. I am writing this article in special reference to this, although this article will be completed by combining many articles because its history is very long, due to which it is very difficult to write it in one article.
This article should be considered the first article of this series, in which I will try to tell in detail about the Durga of Ranthambore, its establishment, its geographical location, and fort architecture you can also see this article as a review of the History of Ranthambore.
Ranthambore Fort: Establishment, Geographical Location, and Fort Architecture
At present, Ranthambore Fort is a major historical tourist destination for all the tourists of the country and abroad, along with this, due to the Ganesh temple located inside it, it is also maintaining its identity as a major religious place.
The route to Ranthambore fort is no less than a thrilling journey. Passing through dense forests between high and low hills, this route becomes even more charming during the rainy season.
Lush green trees with monkeys jumping on them, herds of deer running here and there. Waterfalls flowing at some places, rainwater flowing from the road at some places, a straight climb at some places, a steep slope at some places, etc., this route itself thrills the one who sees it. When we were passing through this route, we felt as if nature had left the whole world and had come and sat in our lap.
Except for Ranthambore, most of the dynasties of Rajasthan had accepted the rule of the kings of Delhi and after that, they had made treaties with the British. Somehow or the other, they saved their existence till the independence of India through the History of Ranthambore. As long as the last rites were present in this fort, no one had the status to know about this fort. However, after Rao Hamir, it never became such a big betting center again.
History of Ranthambore Fort, while maintaining its originality, the temples, palaces, and other buildings of that time in their dilapidated state still tell the story of Rao Hammir's sacrifice, martyrdom, and courage. This fort is a witness to the valor of those thousands of brave women who happily merged forever in the burning flames of today.
History of Ranthambore is a witness to Hammir Hathi's innocent daughter Devalde who, after paying her last respects to the land of death, ends her life by putting a ring in Padma Sarovar. This fort reminds us of that heart-rending day of July 1301 AD when the blood spread on each step giving proof of the bravery, sacrifice, and martyrdom of the Rajput soldiers.
Establishment of Ranthambore Fort
There is a lot of disagreement among historians about the building and construction art of Ranthambore Fort. There is an ancient belief that before the construction of this fort, there was an ashram of Padam Rishi at this place. Near the ashram, there was a big pond which was called Padam Sarovar. It is said that once two princes named Jayant and Randhir came here while hunting and they met Padam Rishi. With the inspiration of the sage, they built a fort named Ran Ranstambhpur at this place. Even today the pond present in this fort is called Padmala Talab. Before the construction of the fort, the idol of Lord Shri Ganesha was also installed which is famous all over Rajasthan today.
At the same time, some other historians are of the opinion that Ratti Dev, the cousin of Chandravanshi King Hasti, built this fort. At the same time, some other historians believe that this fort was built by Chauhan King Ranthan in 944 AD, and according to his name, it was named Ranthambpur. Which later became Ranthambore. According to the history of Ranthambore, Hammir Raso written by Jodharat and Mahesh Kavi, the foundation of this fort was probably laid in 1110 AD. 1053 AD.
After considering all the opinions, we can conclude that the foundation of the fort may have been laid by anyone, but the credit for bringing it to the historical platform can be given only to the kings of the Chauhan dynasty. It is estimated that this fort must have been built around the eighth century, but it cannot be said with certainty.
This fort existed during the time of the famous king of the Chauhan dynasty, Prithviraj Singh Chauhan I, and was also under his control. It is believed that Prithviraj Singh Chauhan I offered a golden urn to a Jain temple built here. The reign of Prithviraj Singh Chauhan I is believed to be between 1090 AD and 1110 AD.
Most likely It is believed that this fort must have been under the rule of the Chauhan dynasty since its construction, either directly or indirectly. There may be differences of opinion on the actual construction date of Ranthambore Fort, but it is true that by the tenth century, this fort had come into existence and by the 12th century this fort became so famous under the leadership of Chauhan rulers that the geographical and combined date of this fort is mentioned in almost all the historical records of that time.
