Khizr Khan Delhi Sultanate

In 1398-99, a storm came in India which blew away everything. Khizr Khan did not even know when he was blown away in the storm. The Delhi Sultanate was completely destroyed. Once again, a brave man, showing his bravery and on the basis of his ambitions, started the work of rebuilding the Delhi Sultanate, and his name was Khizr Khan.

Before leaving the borders of India, Timur had appointed Khizr Khan as the governor of Multan, Lahore and Depalpur. At this time, the reign of Delhi Sultan Nasruddin Mahmud was very weak. Due to lack of strong management, there was a state of great misery and anarchy in the whole of northern India.

The Delhi Sultanate was torn into pieces. All the governors of the regions related to Delhi had declared themselves independent. And had stopped paying annual tax to Delhi. And had become the masters of their own will. The situation was even worse. There was a conflict between the governors of the states to take control of Delhi.

The weakness of the Delhi Sultanate can be seen from the fact that not only the governors but also the nobles and chieftains of Delhi jumped into this conflict and were fighting with each other, but in this war, Khizr Khan succeeded in re-establishing the Delhi Sultanate.

Khizr Khan defeated the Sultan of Delhi at that time 'Daulat Khan' in 1414 AD and took control of Delhi. Thus, on 28 May 1414 AD, Khizr Khan became the ruler of the Delhi Sultanate and laid the foundation of his and the past Sayyid dynasty. For this reason, Khizr Khan is considered the first and first ruler of the Sayyid dynasty.

The reign of Khizr Khan Delhi Sultanate was from 1414 AD to 1421 AD.

Khizr Khan was the first ruler of the Sayyid dynasty of the Delhi Sultanate. Khizr Khan laid the foundation of the Sayyid dynasty. Khizr Khan was a very powerful and ambitious person. When Khizr Khan took over the reign of Delhi in 1414 AD, he did not assume the title of Sultan but was satisfied with the title of 'Rayat-e-Aala'.

When Timur returned from India, he appointed Khizr Khan as the ruler of Multan, Lahore, and Dipalpur. Just as Qutbuddin Aibak had shown his devotion towards Mohammad Gauri, in the same way Khizr Khan also showed his loyalty and honesty towards Timur, otherwise he could have ruled Delhi as a separate Sultan.

The proof of Khizr Khan's loyalty is that when he ascended the throne of Delhi, Timur's son Shahrukh was ruling at that time, yet he showed his loyalty and started paying annual taxes to Shahrukh. Along with this, he used to get the name of Timur and his successor mentioned in his Khutba.

During the reign of Khizr Khan, the Delhi Sultanate, Punjab, Multan, and Sindh were again annexed to the throne of the Delhi Sultanate. It was not that it was very easy for Khizr Khan to get it back, for this he gave a tough fight to the kings of Lahore and Sindh, and military battles were also fought in which Khizr Khan was successful. During his 7-year reign, Khizr Khan had to face many rebellions. He also had to face the rebellion of 'Rai Hari Singh' of Katihar and the kings of Kampal of Badaun and Etawah, and they were also successfully suppressed.

In 1416 AD, Khizr Khan had to face the rebellion of the Turks of Gwalior, Bayana, as well as Sirhind. At that time Gwalior and Bayana as well as Sirhind were under the control of the Turks. Here too, Khijar had to work hard but Khizr Khan was the winner in all these campaigns. Apart from this, the Sultan also had to resort to campaigns every year to collect revenue.

Khizr Khan's troubles were never over. In 1421 AD, the "MewatisMewatis" revolted against him. At that time, Jats, Gurjars, Yadavs, and Ahirs lived in Mewat and were also very skilled in war skills. There was a lot of struggle in this rebellion, but in the end, Khizr Khan won. After suppressing this rebellion, when Khizr Khan was returning to Delhi, he died due to illness on the way. Khizr Khan died on 20 May 1421.
